34 OFWs Stranded in Dubai Return to PH, Receive Government Assistance

Manila: A total of 34 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Friday after getting stranded in Dubai due to escalating tension in the Middle East region. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced that the return of these workers was facilitated by a coordinated effort from various government agencies.

According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac led a team comprised of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Health, Bureau of Quarantine, and a medical team from the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. This team ensured the safe return of the OFWs to the Philippines.

The OFWs arrived onboard Emirates flight EK336. Many had airline tickets for vacation in the Philippines, while others were on connecting flights through Dubai. The DMW expressed gratitude to Emirates and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in facilitating the workers' return. Secretary Cacdac shared his appreciation in a Facebook post.

Following directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the workers received immediate financial assistance, accommodation, and transportation support. These measures were put in place to ensure that the returning OFWs could safely travel to their home provinces after landing in the Philippines.
