Puerto princesa: A total of 203 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) here benefited from a medical and dental mission dubbed 'Tarabidan sa Kalusugan' on Monday. The outreach activity, in coordination with the Puerto Princesa City Health Office, covered male and female dormitories, providing inmates with basic medical consultations, dental services, and health monitoring.
According to Philippines News Agency, BJMP-Mimaropa Region spokesperson Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo emphasized that the initiative highlights the bureau's dedication to ensuring the welfare of PDL in the Palawan capital through ongoing health programs and partnerships with local government units. Anglo noted that such programs illustrate the bureau's mandate, which extends beyond mere safekeeping.
'Ensuring the health and well-being of our PDL forms an essential part of our responsibility to uphold humane treatment and respect for human dignity,' Anglo stated in a news release. He added that the BJMP is committed to implementing holistic interventions aimed at enhancing the physical and overall well-being of inmates while fostering collaboration with health authorities.
