Benguet Sees 74% Decline in Dengue Cases, Urges Continued Vigilance

Benguet: The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Benguet has reported a 74 percent reduction in dengue cases in 2025 but has emphasized the importance of maintaining preventive measures to avoid complacency. According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Cham Bacuso of Benguet PHO stated that from January 1 to August 9 this year, 1,300 dengue cases were recorded in the province, a significant decrease from the 4,803 cases reported during the same period last year. NBI Charges Two Malaysians for Cybercrime Law Violation

Cebu city: Charges for violation of the cybercrime law have been filed against two Malaysian nationals, Chong Hong Yee and Kim Chui Tan, following their arrest. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Tuesday that the charges were filed after illicit electronic equipment was seized from the suspects in Cebu City. According to Philippines News Agency, the NBI stated that the charges came after a team comprising NBI agents and officers from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center (CICC), the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) confiscated the equipment on August 8, 2025.

LTFRB Reviews P15 Minimum Jeepney Fare Petition

Manila: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is studying a petition filed by major transport groups seeking a provisional fare increase for public utility jeepneys (PUJs). According to Philippines News Agency, LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III stated that the petition was filed by PASANG MASDA, ALTODAP, and ACTO on Monday. The groups are seeking a PHP1 provisional fare increase and other fare adjustments for both traditional and modern PUJs.
