Agencies under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) are offering assistance and moratorium to ease the burdens faced by entrepreneurs affected by floods in northern Peninsular Malaysia. In a statement today, the ministry said that TEKUN Nasional is offering a moratorium of up to six months for entrepreneurs struggling to repay their loans due to flood-related challenges. ‘Affected entrepreneurs are also allowed to withdraw funds from their financing accounts and reschedule their repayment,’ it said. Penang Customs Foils 240 Smuggling Attempts, Seizes Over RM28 Mln Goods

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department in Penang successfully foiled 240 smuggling and customs duty evasion attempts between January and August, resulting in seizures valued at over RM28 million, including duties. State director Datuk Roselan Ramli stated that cigarettes topped the list with 107 cases, amounting to RM2.7 million in goods and RM9.28 million in duties. Police Probe Discovery Of Suspected Chemical Waste In Sungai Buloh

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of eight barrels containing suspected chemical waste dumped in a drain at Kampung Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh, on Tuesday. Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the investigation is being carried out under Section 430 of the Penal Code. ‘The investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible,’ he told Bernama when contacted.
