At least 500K candidates expected to contest 18K posts in 2025

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting at least half a million aspirants during the 2025 midterm elections and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary polls. Red tide warning up in Bais Bay in Negros Oriental

DUMAGUETE CITY – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has issued a red tide warning to the public following positive laboratory results of paralytic shellfish poison (PSP) in shellfish collected from Bais Bay in Bais City, Negros Oriental. In its warning dated Sept. 6 and posted on its Facebook page on Saturday, the BFAR-Negros Oriental said shellfish samples collected and analyzed by the regional fisheries laboratory last Aug. 12 tested positive for PSP using the lateral flow immunochromatographic and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. 6 new ecozones with initial P5-B project cost await proclamation

Manila: The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said six new economic zones with initial project costs of over PHP5 billion are awaiting presidential proclamations. The ecozones are two in Cavite province and one each in the provinces of Pampanga, Tarlac, Ilocos Sur, and Cebu, PEZA said in a statement Sunday. PNP security set for Guo transport from Crame to Senate

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured that it can safely transport dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo from Camp Crame in Quezon City to the Senate in Pasay City on Monday. Guo will resume appearance before the continuing investigation into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said Sunday that they have coordinated with the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms on Friday, after Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 permitted Guo to attend the hearing, as requested by Senator Risa Hontiveros.
