Financial support pours for Ilocos Norte math wizards

LAOAG CITY: Financial donations from various public and private donors are pouring in for the Ilocos Norte team who will be competing against thousands of math wizards in the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO) next year.   As of November 30, the Ilocos Norte team from the Sarrat National High School (SNHS), who earlier bagged five gold medals during the Thailand International Mathematics Olympiad last April, has raised a total of PHP878,715.   The fund that is being raised will cover the students’ travel expenses for the WIMO set in Bangkok, Thailand on Jan. 7-8, 2023.   The five students

Arrest warrant with P5-M bail served vs. detained ASG leader

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Government operatives have served a warrant of arrest for 25 counts of frustrated murder with a PHP5 million recommended bail against an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) leader detained for kidnapping charges in Tawi-Tawi, an official said Wednesday.   Maj. NGCP lifts manual load dropping in Zambo Peninsula, other areas

ZAMBOANGA CITY: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has lifted the implementation of Manual Load Dropping (MLD) on all 69-kilovolt (KV) lines servicing seven electric cooperatives in three provinces.   The electric cooperatives include the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative; Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative; Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperatives 1 and 2; Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperative Incorporated 1 and 2; and Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative.   In a statement on Wednesday, the NGCP said the Baloi-Aurora 138-KV and Agus 5-Aurora 138-KV lines, particularly between Towers 22 and 23, “are now cleared from tall-grown trees and hazardous vegetation.”
