Alert firefighters have prevented a huge disaster when they put out a blaze that hit a gasoline station in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, Monday evening. Fire Inspector Ronald Ampang, Sultan Kudarat town fire marshal, said the conflagration started at around 7 p.m. at a building next to the pumping machines of a Phoenix gas station. “Our initial investigation showed the fire could have been triggered by electrical issues,” Ampang said in a radio interview Tuesday. Police arrested Tuesday a man who allegedly hacked to death his father-in-law and his godfather for still unknown reasons in the North Cotabato town of Alamada. Major Bryan Espinoza, Alamada town police chief, identified the suspect as Richel Nikor, who hacked his victims with a machete on Monday afternoon after accusing them of practicing “witchcraft.” The victims are identified as Rolando Salcedo, 56, and Felix Arigola, 70, both of Barangay Barangiran, Alamada.
