320 recoveries bring down PNP active cases to 1.8K

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to see a decrease in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections among its personnel, with 320 new recoveries recorded on Friday. In its Covid-19 bulletin, the police force said this raised the recovery count to 45,909 out of a total of 47,897 confirmed infections since the pandemic started in 2020. The country’s upcoming reopening to foreign leisure travelers would restore jobs lost and businesses forced to shut down during the pandemic, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Friday. DOST-developed poll portal to be deployed by March

The Electoral Board (EB) Certification portal developed by the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) will be deployed to end users by March. Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said in a taped report on Friday the DOST deemed it necessary to automate the usual certification process because of restrictions on face-to-face activities due to the pandemic. RCEP ‘fully addressed’ concerns of local agri sector: DTI

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has responded anew to the concerns raised by some farmer groups regarding the country’s participation in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). In a statement Friday, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the RCEP excludes highly sensitive agricultural products from zero tariffs including swine and poultry meats, potatoes, onions, garlic, cabbages, sugar, carrots, and rice.
