5 BIFF bomb-makers, 7 others surrender in Maguindanao

A dozen members of the lawless Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), five of them bomb-makers, surrendered to the military in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Saturday. Maj. Gen. Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Saturday he is set to declare a state of calamity in the entire province, following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette that claimed the lives of at least eight Negrenses and displaced more than 93,000 others in the past two days. “We will be declaring a state of calamity for the whole province. Gov’t troops capture 3 NPA rebels in Zambo Norte

Government troops captured three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels, two of them wounded, following a clash Friday amid the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in Zamboanga del Norte.
