Light rains on Saturday due to ‘amihan’, LPA

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” and a low-pressure area (LPA) will bring scattered light rains and slightly colder weather in several parts of the country this weekend. In its 4 a.m. weather forecast on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Davao regions, as well as the southern portion of Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands. Samar village, runner-up in UN Best Tourism Villages 2021

The village of Tenani in Paranas, Samar, known for its extreme riverboat ride, has been listed as one of the runners-up in the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) Best Tourism Villages for 2021. The village of Bojo in Aloguisan, Cebu made it to the list of the 44 Best Tourism Villages in the world, the UNWTO announced on Friday night. “Home to the Ulot Torpedo Boat Adventure Ride and the Paranas Eco-Trail and Birding Site, Tenani will be included in the UNWTO’s Upgrade Program,” Department of Tourism 8 (Eastern Visayas) Director Karina Rosa Tiopes said in a Facebook post.

4 more NPA rebels yield to Eastmincom troops

The Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) said Saturday four more New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered on Nov. 29 and 30. In a statement, Lt. Gen. Benguet State U to enforce IATF’s ‘jab order’ for workers

The government-run Benguet State University (BSU) is bent on implementing the order of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for eligible workers to get vaccinated or be required to regularly submit swab test results. “We will not force the employees to be vaccinated but we will require them to regularly submit a negative test result at their own expense,” BSU president, Dr. Felipe Comila, said in an interview on Friday.
