TDF rates up on undersubscription in 7-day facility

The seven-day term deposit facility (TDF) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) registered undersubscription during the auction this week, but rates of both the one and two-week tenors rose. Data released by the central bank showed that the offer volume for the seven-day TDF was increased to PHP170 billion from last week’s PHP160 billion. BOC-Port of NAIA seizes P7.5-M shabu concealed in clothes

The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of NAIA on Wednesday reported the confiscation of 1.1 kilos of shabu declared as clothes, slippers and food chips with a street value of over PHP7.5 million. According to the BOC, the illegal drugs concealed in two air parcels were apprehended in the Fedex warehouse in Pasay City. The prohibited items were formally turned over to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday. The parcels which came from Malaysia were subjected to 100 percent physical examination and Canine (K-9) sweeping. During the examination, the authorities found four plastics containing white crystalline substance concealed in t-shirts.
