2 Fire Incidents in Cagayan de Oro Cause PHP1.3 Million in Property Damage

Caloocan: Two separate fire incidents in this city caused PHP1.3 million worth of damage to properties on Tuesday evening, officials said. In an interview Wednesday, Barangay Lapasan chairperson Julito Ogsimer reported that the Sitio San Roque fire caused an estimated PHP1 million in damage. He said that based on the barangay's assessment, 48 families, or 158 individuals, were affected.

According to Philippines News Agency, "There were 26 houses destroyed while 22 were partially damaged," Ogsimer said. Affected families were temporarily evacuated to the Lapasan Gymnasium, where they are currently receiving immediate assistance.

Less than an hour later on Tuesday evening, another fire broke out in Block 3, Barangay Puntod, burning four houses. Bureau of Fire Protection Inspector Mary Ranelie of the Cagayan de Oro Fire District said the Puntod fire reached the third alarm and resulted in an estimated PHP350,000 in property damage. Ranelie added that two individuals were reported injured in the Puntod fire incident.
