Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Wednesday the arrest of two Chinese nationals accused of kidnapping three foreigners in Batangas. The suspects, aged 27 and 29, were detained by PNP operatives at a police checkpoint in Bacoor, Cavite on May 3.

The two are accused of abducting two Chinese nationals and a Korean national in Barangay Balaytigue, Nasugbu, Batangas on May 2. The victims were released the next day following ransom negotiations.

The police initiated a follow-up operation after obtaining a lead from surveillance footage and witness testimonies. Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, stated in a media interview, “They [suspects] were positively identified by the kidnap victims.”

During the arrest, law enforcement recovered firearms, ammunition, and items directly linked to the kidnapping incident.
