Quiapo Church asks faithful to choose Traslacion 2022 theme

The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, commonly known as the Quiapo Church, has asked the faithful to choose the theme for next year’s Traslacion.

The Basilica has launched an online survey on its Facebook page on Thursday, where devotees are asked to select from five Bible themes.

“Theme for Traslacion 2022] We and the Basilica Minore of the Black Nazarene ask for your little time to choose who will be the THEME for the upcoming #Traslacion2022,” said Rev. Fr. Douglas Badong, Quiapo Church parochial vicar in a Facebook post.

Below are the theme options:

“Bakit kayo natatakot? Wala ba kayong pananalig?” (Marcos 4:40)

“Ako’y sumasainyo lagi, hanggang sa katapusan ng sanlibutan.” (Mateo 28:19-20)

“Panginoon ko at Diyos ko!” (Juan 20:24-29)

“Nakita ko ang Panginoon!” (Juan 20:1-2,11-18)

“Hesus, Anak ni David: Mahabag po kayo sa akin!” (Lucas 18:38)

He also urged the people to carefully read each Bible verse and also to give the reason on why they picked that particular theme.

“It is best to read the entirety of each Bible theme before choosing. Please also comment on why you chose that,” Badong said.

The Traslacion or the procession of the Black Nazarene from the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta to the basilica on Quezon Boulevard in Manila is held every January 9, the feast of the Black Jesus Christ.

This year’s annual procession was called off while activities were limited to Masses and smaller gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
