Over 3.6M AstraZeneca jabs cleared: BOC

The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) on Friday reported that it has so far cleared a total of 3,680,100 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

In a statement, the bureau said the latest of which was the 1,124,100 doses of the British-made vaccines donated by the Japanese government that arrived via an All Nippon Airlines (ANA) flight.

The vaccine donation consigned to the Department of Health (DOH), arrived via Flight NH819 at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The shipment was pre-cleared on July 7 at the Covid-19 One-Stop-Shop of BOC-NAIA.

The arrival was witnessed by President Roa Rodrigo Duterte, together with officials from the Embassy of Japan to the Philippines, National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

The AstraZeneca was the second Covid-19 vaccine brand imported into the country, following the arrival of the first Covid-19 vaccine from China’s Sinovac in the Philippines last February 28.

Currently, this is the fourth batch of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines that arrived in the country and the 26th batch of Covid-19 vaccines cleared by the Bureau of Customs.

For the first half of 2021, the BOC has cleared 12 million doses of Sinovac, 2.556 million doses of AstraZeneca, 2,478,060 doses of Pfizer, 249,600 doses of Moderna, and 180,000 doses of Sputnik V Covid-19 jabs.
