Nearly 266K NegOr residents receive Covid vax

A total of 265,740 residents of Negros Oriental have received the vaccine against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as local government units and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) scramble to have as many people inoculated amid another surge of infections.

Records at the PHO showed that as of Sept. 28 (Tuesday), 131,482 residents received the first dose while 134,258 were also administered with the second dose, including the one-shot Janssen.

Negros Oriental has so far received a total of 368,462 doses of vaccines, including Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Janssen, Moderna, and Sinopharm.

It is targeting 908,939 of its total population to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to reach herd immunity.

The PHO has deployed its mobile vaccination team to the different towns and cities to help them speed up the inoculation rollout as cases spiked anew over the last few weeks.

Meanwhile, the City Health Office (CHO) here reported that it has vaccinated 36,814 residents as of September 27.

Of the total number of vaccinees, 2,563 are medical front-liners or (A1); 7,466 are senior citizens (A2); 8,284 are persons with comorbidities (A3); 11,504 are frontline personnel (A4), and 6,997 are indigents (A5), a media release said Wednesday.

Vaccination continues at two sites here, namely, the local Robinsons mall and the Barangay Pulantubig gymnasium.
