DTI-Antique to distribute 250 ‘sari-sari’ store packages

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique provincial office will start on Sept. 8 the distribution of the 250 sari-sari store packages to micro-entrepreneurs with businesses hard-hit by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

DTI Antique provincial director Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo, who assumed her post only on Sept. 1, said during a virtual press conference on Tuesday that the Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) is one of the many programs of their department aimed to capacitate small business owners.

“The pandemic has brought us many challenges, but that we have to rise beyond the expectations,” she said as she assured the micro-entrepreneurs of the DTI’s presence and assistance.

Engr. Lynna Joy Cardinal, DTI Antique information officer and who joined Tamayo in the press conference, said the LSP-NSB sari-sari store packages will be given to micro-entrepreneurs in the 4th to 5th class municipalities in the province so that they would have additional grocery items to be sold for their livelihood.

“The distribution will start in the town of Pandan with 61 packages given to 61 micro-entrepreneurs tomorrow, Sept. 8,” she said.

The distribution of 27 packages with each micro-entrepreneur receiving one package in Anini-y town will then be held the following day or on Sept. 9.

She also said that they are now arranging the schedules for distribution to other towns namely Sebaste which will also receive 18 packages, Belison 19, Tibiao with 34, Libertad with 35, and Laua-an with 56.

“Each package has grocery items amounting to PHP6,000,” she said.

The micro-entrepreneurs in the seven municipalities to be given 250 packages will be the initial batch out of the total 10 towns belonging to the 4th to 5th class municipalities in the province.

“The DTI for the entire year will be giving a total of 656 packages to the micro-entrepreneurs in the 10 towns,” Cardinal said.
