A drug watch-listed personality was arrested and some PHP137,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized from him during a search warrant operation conducted by authorities in San Narciso, Zambales on Monday.
In a report, Col. Romano Velayo Cardiño, provincial director of the Zambales Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as James Bactad, 51, of Barangay Lapaz, San Narciso, Zambales, who is a member of the notorious Buela Criminal Group.
Cardiño said seized from Bactad were 33 sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of 19.6 grams and with a Dangerous Drugs Board-estimated value of PHP137,200, one bundle of medium-sized empty plastic, and a digital weighing scale.
He said the arrested suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the San Narciso Municipal Police Station for documentation.
Criminal complaints for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being readied for filing in court against the suspect.
“Zambales police continues its unrelenting drive to go after suspected drug personalities to eradicate drug menace and criminality in the province,” Cardiño said in a statement.
