Weekend reblocking on Edsa, metro roads set

MANILA The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will resume the weekend reblocking works covering various road sections in Metro Manila.

In an advisory, DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) said the works will start at 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

After securing clearance from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the DPWH will conduct road rehabilitation in areas of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa), southbound direction from Camp Crame Gate to the portion after Annapolis Street, beside MRT; before Estrella, outer lane.

Road works will also be done from National Shrine to West Avenue, first lane from sidewalk; and in the northbound direction after Aurora Boulevard to New York Street, third lane from sidewalk.

Road section that will also undergo rehabilitation includes the northbound direction of Katipunan Avenue/Circumferential Road 5 (C5) after C. P. Garcia Street, in front of UP Town Center, truck lane.

Other roads scheduled for rehabilitation include the eastbound direction of General Luis Street from Rebisco Road to SB Diversion Road; and Elliptical Road from after Maharlika Street, 6th lane from outer sidewalk; and on the westbound direction of Quirino Highway from Prime Rose to King Fisher Street, inner lane.

The southbound direction of Mindanao Avenue fronting Caltex Gas Station and after Tandang Sora Avenue, second lane from sidewalk; and G. Araneta from Landragum Street to Samar Street; and on the northbound direction of A. Bonifacio near Selecta Drive, 2nd lane from sidewalk, are also covered by the rehabilitation works.

The DPWH advised affected motorists and commuters to take alternate possible routes due to expected traffic build-up at the construction areas. (PNA)
