UP ups bid vs DLSU in UAAP volleyball – Wednesday, 16 March 2016

Streaking University of the Philippines seeks to bolster its Final Four bid against De La Salle today in the UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Lady Maroons are eyeing to tie the Lady Spikers in second place that will also enhance their quest for the twice-to-beat bonus in the semifinals in a key match set at 4 p.m.
University of Santo Tomas tries to rebound from its forgettable loss to De La Salle and wheel back into the Final Four contention against Adamson University in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.
Coming off an easy straight set win over the Tigresses last Sunday that avenged their shock first round loss, Lady Spikers mentor Ramil de Jesus is girding up for a tough battle ahead.
"Alam nating lahat na bata pa talaga ang UP pero sa performance nila ngayon, hindi mo talaga kakakitaan ng age ng bawat isa," said de Jesus. "Pag na-overcome nila yun (pagkabata), mahirap sila talunin."
Running third with a 6-3 card, the Lady Maroons are just trailing the Lady Spikers (7-2) by a full game in the race for the second twice-to-beat slot in the Final Four. The Diliman-based spikers are also not far behind the league-leading Lady Eagles (8-2).
Sporting a 4-5 slate in sixth spot, UST is trailing joint fourth placers National University and Far Eastern University by half-a-game in the chase for the last semis berth.
At 3-6, Adamson University is two games out of the top four as it needs to start winning games to avoid to put itself on the ropes.
In the men's division, the Green Spikers (3-6) and the Growling Tigers (4-5) play in a key match at 10 a.m., right after the Falcons (6-3) and the Tamaraws (5-4) take the floor at 8 a.m.
