WASHINGTON-- The White House barred several major news organizations from participating in an informal off-camera press briefing on Friday, underscoring heightened tensions between President Donald Trump's administration and the media.
The New York Times, CNN, the BBC, the Los Angeles Times and Politico were among the organizations blocked from accessing a session with White House press secretary Sean Spicer that reporters from other outlets were hand-picked to attend, according to US media reports.
Dean Baquet, executive editor of the New York Times, lodged a strong protest with the White House over the exclusion of the paper and other news organizations from the event. (PNA/Kyodo)
