MANILA Partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail over the archipelago due to localized thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
In its 3 a.m. broadcast, PAGASA said the center of Typhoon Perla was estimated at 635 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
It is moving north - northeast at 15 kph with northeasterly surface windflow prevailing over Luzon.
It added that Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The weather bureau also warned the public against possible flash floods or landslides due to severe thunderstorms.
Light to strong winds will blow all over the country while coastal waters along all areas will be slight to moderate. Strong coastal waters are expected at the northern and eastern section of Northern Luzon.
The minimum temperature for the day is 24.0C while the maximum temperature is at 31.8C, PAGASA said. (PNA)
