Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this province continue to spike with 10 new infections as confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday.
Based on the report of the Tarlac Covid-19 Task Force, most of the new cases are largely due to transmission in their respective workplace.
Six of the new patients are working in business process outsourcing (BPO) companies here, the task force said.
They are a 22-year-old woman from Barangay Burot, a 24-year-old woman from Barangay Tibag, a 32-year-old man from Barangay San Vicente; a 22-year-old man from Barangay San Sebastian, all in this city; a 29-year-old man from Barangay Sto. Domingo 2nd, Capas and a 40-year-old woman from Barangay Malacampa, Camiling.
The task force said the other four new cases are a 28-year-old male and a 34-year-old male, both from Barangay Anupul, another 34-year-old male from Barangay Dapdap, all in Bamban; and a 69-year-old woman from Barangay Balingcanaway this city.
As a result, the total number of active cases is now 244.
Meanwhile, the task force reported that six patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total recoveries to 195.
The total number of deaths, on the other hand, remained at 18.
To curb the rising Covid-19 cases in the city, Mayor Cristy Angeles said the Tarlac City Inter-Agency Task Force (AITF) has intensified the implementation of the health protocols.
Angeles said the prohibition on the consumption of alcoholic drinks liquor in the city, which is being implemented on Sept. 25 until Oct. 25 this year, is only for social gatherings in public places.
“Hindi bawal ang bumili ng alak o ang pag-inom nito sa loob ng inyong sariling tahanan kung ikaw ay mag-isa lamang iinom o kasama ang mga nakatira sa inyong bahay (It is not prohibited to buy liquor and drink it in your own home if you drink alone or with those who live in your home),” she said in a statement
