FORD Philippines, the local arm of Michigan-based auto giant Ford Motor Co., said sales jumped 52 percent year-on-year in February to 2,671 units, driven by strong consumer spending.

“The Philippines’ healthy economy and positive consumer sentiment are helping drive continuing demand for Ford vehicles, particularly our SUVs and Ranger pickup,” Lance Mosley, managing director of Ford Philippines, said in a statement.

“With an expanded dealer network, we’ve also been able to make the Ford brand more accessible to customers across the country,” he added.

Ford Philippines’ February sales were led by the all-new Everest in the mid-sized SUV segment, which delivered retail sales of 1,234 units. This was followed by the second best selling Ford unit, EcoSport compact SUV, which recorded 610 units sold in the month.

EcoSport is Ford’s forefront in the mini SUV segment, which takes up healthy demand in the B segment clients.

The premium Explorer SUV saw February sales rise 19 percent year-on-year to 118 units, boosted by the recently launched Explorer Sport with EcoBoost in 3.5-liter and 2.3-liter variants.

Ford Philippines said that with the combined sales of the Explorer and Expedition, the company is leading in the large SUV segment.

The Ranger pickup truck, on the other hand, posted sales of 535 units in February.
