MANILA-- Operatives of the Southern Police District (SPD) - Civil Disturbance Management on Thursday were provided with a "human rights seminar" to ensure that no untoward incidents will mar this year's State-of-The-Nation-Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte on July 24.
SPD public affairs office chief Supt. Jenny DC Tecson said the briefing focused on "strict adherence on human rights-based policing."
She added the seminar was held at SPD District Special Training Unit Classroom in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Tecson said the recently-concluded activity is part of the SPD's efforts to further professionalize its ranks and strenghtens in anchor on a solid human rights foundation.
"This is also a manifestation of the dynamic cooperation between the PNP and the Commission on Human Rights," she pointed out.
We must lead our fellow officers in finding ample spaces for human rights as we all discharge our duties as servants and protectors of the people. We are all tasked with the development of a solid principle of human dignity, Tecson concluded.
