MANILA Samar 1st District Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento on Thursday asked Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar to deliver the message of gratitude from the people of the province to President Rodrigo R. Duterte for his many contributions to their region.
Andanar witnessed the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on the establishment of a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office in Calbayog City.
Sarmiento welcomed Andanar's attendance to the MOA signing, noting that this shows unity among government agencies in supporting the establishment of an NBI office in Calbayog City.
NBI Director Dante Gierran thanked Calbayog City Mayor Ronaldo Aquino for the lot allocated to build the NBI office, Sarmiento and the Office of the President, represented by Andanar.
"Eventually this edifice, the NBI building, will be the testament to the collaboration of the LGUs (local government units), the national office of this country, the NBI, and the Department of Justice. And this will prove to all and sundry the foresight and spiritedness of the City of Calbayog," Gierran said.
Aquino said the building of an NBI office is a dream come true for the people of the city.
"I am happy that finally it's a realization of a dream. There was a satellite office before pero na-pull out na po (but it was pulled out). Actually, I have initiated this about three years ago during the incumbency of Director Mendez, but unfortunately the project was shelved, he said.
Aquino said he expects a good partnership with the NBI and vowed full support from the Calbayog City government.
Andanar was in Calbayog City for the PCOO roadshow held at the Calbayog Convention Center. (PNA)
