The field offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are continuously monitoring Typhoon Nina.
Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo said that on Saturday morning, she personally visited the Operations Center.
Taguiwalo said that they placed the center under Blue Alert, which requires 24-hour monitoring by the central and field offices covered by the weather disturbance.
Based on their monitoring, 'Nina' is expected to make landfall in Virac, Catanduanes on the afternoon of Sunday (December 25). It may have a second landfall in Camarines Sur and hit the National Capital Region as well.
Taguiwalo again appealed to those who will be affected by the typhoon to be prepared.
She also thanked all public servants who are on standby and are preparing to bring assistance to typhoon victims when the need arises.
"Mga kababayan, paghandaan natin ang bagyong Nina. Makinig sa updates sa takbo ng bagyo at sundin ang mga panawagan ng pre-emptive evacuation kung saklaw ang inyong tahanan.(Let us prepare for Typhoon Nina. Listen to the updates on the typhoon and heed the calls for pre-emptive evacuation in your respective areas)," the social welfare chief said.
