Soccsksargen records 4 new Covid cases, patient recovers

Four more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19)-positive patients were reported in the Soccsksargen region, raising its total number of confirmed infections to 56, the Department of Health (DOH) said Saturday.

Three of these new patients were from Sultan Kudarat province and the other from Sarangani province, Arjohn Gangoso, DOH 12 (Soccsksargen) health education and promotion officer, said in a statement released Friday night.

“All of them are asymptomatic and all have traveled to Manila. They are all awaiting PH numbers,” Gangoso said.

Soccsksargen’s 53rd patient is a 43-year-old woman from Sultan Kudarat who had traveled to Manila and returned home on June 18. She is in stable condition.

A 37-year-old woman, also from Sultan Kudarat, is the region’s 54th patient. She had traveled to Manila and arrived in the province on June 15.

The 55th patient, a 38-year-old woman, arrived in Sultan Kudarat from Manila on June 15.

On the other hand, the 56th positive patient, a 44-year-old woman, arrived in Sarangani from Manila on June 15.

All four were locally stranded individuals who returned home from Metro Manila, which has a high incidence of Covid-19.

All the new patients are confined in the provincial isolation centers in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, and Alabel, Sarangani, and are being closely monitored by health front-liners.

Meanwhile, the DOH also reported that a 37-year-old woman in South Cotabato who traveled to Manila has recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries to 32.

South Cotabato has the highest number of positive cases at 16 with nine recoveries, followed by Cotabato City with 15 infections and 13 recoveries.

Gangoso reminded the public to continue wearing face masks, regular washing of hands with soap, and safe physical distancing at all times. (PNA)
