Six road sections in CAR are closed to traffic due to Typhoon Lawin

The Department of Public Works and Highways reported that as of 6:00 o'clock in the morning of October 20, six (6) road sections in CAR are closed to traffic due to soil collapse, submerged detour road, roadslips, landslides and flooding.

Engineer Dominador P. Aquino of the DPWH Safety and Disaster Management Coordination Division said one of the roads closed to traffic is Kennon Road. He said it was closed to traffic for the safety of the motorists. Section is landslide prone area. Motorists are advised to take Marcos Highway.

Another is the Kiangan-Tinoc-Buguias Bdry. Road, K0341+700, Buhyo Section under the Ifugao 1st DEO, which was closed to traffic due to roadslips.

The Bulo National Road, K0508+092, under the Lower Kalinga DEO, was closed to traffic due to submerged detour of ongoing Bulo Bridge replacement.

The Kalinga-Cagayan Road K0524+000 to K0526+200, also under the Lower Kalinga DEO was closed to traffic due to flooding.

Meanwhile, the Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road K0490+950 Comyaas, Balbalan, under the Upper Kalinga DEO, was closed to traffic due to soil collapse.

Under the Mt. Province DEO, the Baguio-Bontoc Road, K0390+100, Tikitik Section, was closed to traffic due to landslide.

Engr. Aquino said that the DPWH is now conducting on-going clearing operations. It has deployed equipment and maintenance crews for clearing operations; conducts continuous monitoring of road situation; and installation of warning signs.
