MANILA Several roads sections were closed to traffic in three regions in the country due to bad weather brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Sarah (Fung-Wong), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Thursday.
Based on the executive summary report, the DPWH said as of 7 a.m., a total of 14 road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley are currently not passable due to high river water level, soil collapse, landslide, and eroded shoulder.
The roads in CAR are as follows: Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road (Barangay Dinagat, Kabuhayan, Apayao), Claveria-Calanasan-Kabuhayan Road (Baduang, Calanasan, Apayao) and (Ninoy Section, Calanasan, Apayao); Apayao (Calanasan)-Ilocos Norte Road (Sadel Sections, Calanasan, Apayao).
In the Ilocos Region, Cape Bojeador Road is closed to traffic.
Vehicles are also not allowed in two areas in Region 2, including Abusag Oveflow Bridge along San Jose-Baggao-Abusag-Sta. Margarita Road, Baggaw, Cagayan, with alternate route Jct. Gattaran Cubao Capissatan, Sta. Margarita Road; Itawis Bridge, along Cagayan-Apayao Road.
Also closed to traffic is the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge with alternate route and Daang Maharlika via Tuguegarao.
The DPWH added that clearing operations are currently being conducted.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, Sarah was located 275 km east of Basco, Batanes.
It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday. (PNA)
