MANILA A retired police officer included on the government's drug watchlist was killed in a buy-bust operation in Valenzuela City, the Northern Police District (NPD) reported Tuesday.
Retired PO2 Exequiel P. Sanco, 50, a resident of No. 301 Gen. Luna Street, Caloocan City died in a shootout with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) National Capital Region and Valenzuela Police around 9:30 p.m. Monday along Saint Jude Street, Malinta, Valenzuela City.
Recovered from the scene was a sachet of suspected shabu and a loaded Beretta pistol with serial no. M067732z owned by the suspect.
Operatives also recovered a black Kawasaki motorcycle (UV-4786) with a green sidecar and MTTODA and 0116 body markings, and bills worth PHP400.
A drug inventory conducted on the belt bag of Sanco at the emergency room of Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, yielded 21 pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing substance suspected to be shabu; 25 pieces of empty transparent plastic sachets; PHP500 bill used as buy-bust money; one piece of heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu bought by operatives from the deceased suspect and PHP1,246 in cash.
The items were recovered by PDEA agent Jorlie Dela Rosa in the presence of Kagawad Romeo "Buding" Balajadia of Barangay Malinta.
On Sunday, retired police Supt. Roberto Palisoc, who was also on the government's list of drug personalities, was shot dead by unidentified suspects on a motorcycle in Malate, Manila.
The victim had just paid a visit to the St. Anthony's Church when the suspects drove near his sidecar and then fired at him at the corner of Angel Linao and San Andres Streets.
Palisoc was assigned at the Manila Police District Station 7 shortly after being named on the government's drug watchlist two years ago. (PNA)
