The Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) has already begun the termination proceeding against a police trainee accused of mauling his 16-year-old girlfriend, its top official said Monday.
Police trainee Joed Carba was immediately placed under administrative leave following his arrest after he allegedly mauled his 16-year
-old girlfriend at the latter’s apartment in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte last July 22, PRO-9 Director, Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., said.
Carba was undergoing on-the-job training or field training exercise (OJT/FTX) at the Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office at the time of his arrest.
A complaint lodged by the victim at the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Dipolog City Police Station accused Carba of physical abuse in relation to Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.
Cambay said he has directed Lt. Col. Antonio Duruin, training manager of the Regional Special Training Unit 9, to terminate the OJT/FTX training of Carba and subject him for termination procedure under the Philippine National Police (PNP) training manual.
Cambay noted that police professionalism is one of his core programs, in which the imposition of discipline among the officers and ranks is a priority.
He also condemned “any act inimical to public service, which tends to degrade the prestige of the PNP organization.”
Cambay said the PNP upholds the highest standard of discipline as an “implementer and not violators of the law to gain the trust and confidence of every citizen.”
