CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City-- The regional police chief here assured on Wednesday the safety of the 10,000 Korean nationals living and working in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) region.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A (Calabarzon) Director Chief Superintendent Valfrie Tabian gave the assurance to Tae Seon Kim, district director for Laguna and Jong Jin Byun, district director for Cavite of the United Korean Community Association of the Philippines during their visit to this camp this morning.
The Korean delegation was worried about the latest events in Angeles City wherein some members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were involved in crimes against their nationals.
Kim told Tabian that there are about 10,000 Koreans living or working in Calabarzon and most of them are in Cavite, Laguna and Batangas provinces.
Tabian assured that similar incidents will not happen under his leadership.
He also instructed all provincial police directors (PDs) and chiefs of police (COPs) to ensure the security of the Korean nationals in their territory.
The Korean community has designated Korean Desk Police Liaison Officer Chief Inspector Yun Won Chang to be stationed at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) office here to coordinate security matters of the Koreans. (PNA)
