MANILA The Quezon City Council on Monday passed a resolution supporting House Bill No. 7211 which seeks to increase the minimum salary of teachers as well as government employees.
Authored by Councilor Julienne Alyson Rae Medalla, City Resolution 7643-2018 states that the bill will raise the minimum salary of public school teachers and teaching personnel in state universities and colleges (SUCs).
This resolution supports House Bill No. 7211 in order to assist our public school teachers and recognize their immense contribution to society as they nurture the future leaders of our country, the resolution read.
Under HB No. 7211, the entry-level teachers will have a minimum salary of PHP16,000; while for SUC teaching personnel will have a minimum salary of PHP30,000 to PHP31,000.
The Personnel Economic Relief Allowance of government employees will also be increased from PHP2,000 to PHP5,000 per month. (PNA)
