MANILAQuezon City Vice-Mayor Joy Belmonte vowed to look into the delays on the ongoing construction of the multi-million-peso Visayas Ave. Extension, which is being used as a parking area, playground and lately, a carnival site.
I will look into that and will coordinate with the barangay officials on what is causing the delay, Belmonte said during the new weekly Real News Forum at Rolando's Restaurant in Project 6, Quezon City on Tuesday.
The Visayas Ave. Extension is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which connects to NLEX going to northern Luzon and to Fairview in Quezon City.
The project has been stagnant for more than three years, apparently due to a right-of-way issue.
The Visayas Ave. Extension road also merges with Himlayan Road, which is being widened.
Belmonte, who is running for mayor in next year's election, cited the importance of good governance as a key to success.
She said quick action on any problem that crops up, with the use of modern technology, will greatly help.
Belmonte said Quezon City has a budget of PHP18.5 billion, and a supplemental budget of PHP6 billion. (PNA)
