CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan -- An alleged drug pusher was killed and 13 other drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug stings in this province on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Col. Chito G. Bersaluna, Bulacan police provincial director, identified the neutralized suspect as Archie Ramos, a resident of Barangay Sto. Cristo, Pulilan town, who was included on the drug watch list of the Plaridel Municipal Police.
Bersaluna said Ramos was killed in a shootout with lawmen at around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Banga 1st, Plaridel.
He said the shootout ensued as Ramos pulled a pistol tucked in his waist and opened fire upon seeing the approaching policemen.
"The arresting officers immediately retaliated and returned fire to defend themselves that resulted in the death of the suspect while his unidentified male cohort managed to escape," Bersaluna added.
Police forensics team processed the crime scene and seized from the suspect a cal .38 revolver without serial number, 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu and PHP500 bill buy-bust money.
Meanwhile, the other 13 drug suspects were nabbed in different buy-bust operations by the anti-illegal drug operatives of Marilao, Bulakan, Pandi, Bocaue, Meycauayan, Baliwag, Guiguinto and Balagtas.
Arrested were Edwin Polido Espiritu, Ryan Polido Espiritu, Jayson Morelos, Jocel Masangkay, Oswald Sablay, Sergio Lazaro Jr., Ronald Silva, Nelson Almazar, Joy Centeno, Washing Go, Ryan Bautista, and two minors aged 17 and 16 years old.
A total of 31 plastic sachets of shabu, three plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves and buy-bust money were seized from the suspects during the operations.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Bulacan Crime Laboratory for appropriate examination.
The suspects will face criminal charges in under Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002.
