Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Thursday said that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has set conditions for the possible surrender of Jack Lam, the supposed big-time online gaming operator.
In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Dela Rosa said that based on the directive of the President, Lam should settle the taxes he (Lam) has to pay to the government.
"Magbayad siya kung ano ang dapat bayaran (He should settle his unpaid taxes)," Dela Rosa said.
"Mag surrender daw siya sa akin (If he surrenders to me) then I will relay to him the firm and unconditional intentions of the President," he added.
However, Dela Rosa said there is no definite date yet for the surrender of Lam, but there are already talks of his surrender.
Aside from this, Dela Rosa said, Lam should fix and renegotiate his contract with the PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation).
"Renegotiate nila yung kanilang kontrata (They should renegotiate their contract) with PAGCOR," he said.
The PNP chief said that President Duterte would not allow Lam to dupe the Philippines through fraud on his taxable income, especially so that Lam's business in Fontana in Clark, Pampanga is earning huge profits.
"Ayusin niya at huwag niya isahan ang Pilipinas dahil (He should behave properly and not dupe the Philippines because) that's economic sabotage," he said.
In fact, Dela Rosa said that Lam has already committed economic sabotage when he employed Chinese nationals in the country to work in his business without proper work permit.
Dela Rosa earlier said that Lam has sent "surrender feelers" through an emissary and expressed his intention to return to the Philippines and surrender.
