President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the Joint AFP Command Conference at the Heroes Hall in MalacaAan on Friday, January 6.
It was attended by the top brass of the Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) as well as some members of the President's Cabinet.
The command conference was attended by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Secretary Ismael Sueno of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Eduardo AAo, Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon.
In his invocation, PNP Chaplain Service director Police Sr. Supt. Eligio Mativo said the joint PNP and AFP Command Conference will discuss, evaluate, and make important decisions and actions which are relevant to the present issues and concerns of our country in general and specifically for the welfare and security of the people especially those who dream to live in a healthy, peaceful and harmonious community.
On the same day, the President visited the wake of a policeman at the victim's residence in Tanza, Cavite before 7:00 p.m.
PO1 Enrico B. Domingo, 38 years old, was killed in action on January 4, Wednesday during an anti-drug operation in Pasay City when one of the drug users resisted arrest and opened fire at the arresting authorities.
The slain policeman's family received financial assistance, educational plans for the children, and job assistance for the victim's widow.
The President was accompanied by Philippine National Police Director-General Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa and Special Assistant to the President Christopher 'Bong' Go.
President Duterte also visited the wake of the deceased son of his Chief Presidential Legal Counsel to express his condolences.
The President arrived at the Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapels and Crematory at Araneta Avenue in Quezon City a few minutes before midnight.
Salvador Carlo Panelo lll, son of Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, succumbed to a heart ailment. He was only 27 years old.
After a moment of silence before the deceased at the altar, the President exchanged pleasantries with the guests at the wake.
