Four provinces in Mindanao lost power on Sunday due to the onslaught of Tropical Cyclone Auring, power grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said Monday.
According to a statement issued by the power firm, 'Auring' affected the provinces of Bukidnon, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur. Bukidnon experienced the power cut at 6:11 p.m., and the other three provinces at 9:47 p.m.
The transmission company noted that the outages were caused either by its affected transmission facilities or the distribution facilities of electric cooperatives.
It said the distribution utilities or electric cooperatives determine the area for the power cuts.
