MANILA, Philippines- The Philippines announced today (Saturday) that, it is planning to build a world class "sports city," in a province north of Manila, for the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, China's Xinhua news agency reported.
The Malacanang presidential palace said, in a statement, that, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), is all ready to make preparations for the SEA Games, which the Philippines will be hosting in two years' time.
"A more than 50-hectare Sports City, with world class sports facilities, will be constructed, and made available for the 2019 regional games, in New Clark City," the statement read, referring to Clark in Pampanga, north of Manila.
The statement said, the Philippines is looking at several venues, inside and outside, the capital, for the series of sporting events, including in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga and Zambales, north of Manila, and Laguna, south of Manila.
Foreign Secretary, Alan Peter Cayetano, who was named chair of the SEA Games Organising Committee, has said that, the Philippines is hosting the 30th SEA Games in 2019.
The Philippines last hosted the SEA Games in 2005.
