PDEA to intensify crackdown vs drugs during the holidays

MANILA The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will intensify its operations, particularly against party drugs in time for the Christmas season.

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said the agency will conduct anti-drug operations in high-end bars, hotels, condominiums, and posh villages to catch people using party drugs like ecstasy and kush in Christmas parties.

"I assume there will be an increase in consumption, especially [that there are] parties [left and right] today and the PDEA will not stop in going around the metropolis to find out and check if [party drugs] are being used especially in rave parties," Aquino told reporters a in press conference on Wednesday.

Despite this, Aquino said the supply of drugs went down based on their test buy operations nationwide.

He explained that the prices of the contraband went up from PHP1,000 to around PHP2,000 to PHP3,000 per gram, caused by the low supply. (PNA)
