Pampanga village declared ‘drug-free’

MANILA� The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) declared a barangay (village) in the municipality of Sto. Tomas in Pampanga cleared from illegal drugs.

The village was proclaimed drug-free after complying with the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) as provided by Section 8, DDB Board Regulation No. 3 series of 2017, otherwise known as Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapena said in a statement.

The barangay reached drug-cleared status after members of the Oversight Committee composed of representatives from the PDEA where the PDEA Regional Director acts as Chairman, Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Regional Director as Vice-Chairman, PNP Regional Director, DOH Regional Director and Governor Lilia Nanay G. Pineda as members of the Committee, have covened and validated the non-availability of drug supply in the area and the absence of drug transit, clandestine drug laboratory, clandestine drug warehouse, clandestine chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den or resort, drug pusher and drug user.

The ceremonial signing declaring the village as drug-free was held at the Office of the Governor, Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on Monday.

The activity was witnessed by PSSUPT Joel R. Consulta, PD, Pampanga PPO, PSUPT Michael Masangcay, Company Commander PPSC, Ms. Angie Blanco, head, PDRRMO and Board Members Rosve Henson and Cherry Manalo.
