MANILA MalacaAang on Monday suspended work in the executive branch of government from 3 p.m. onwards on account of the first day of the 27th National Family Week celebration.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 65 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea by authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, work in the executive branch was suspended to allow government workers to spend time with their families.
Agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities and/or the performance of other vital services will continue with their operations and render the necessary services, the memorandum read.
The suspension of work in other branches of government and in independent commissions or bodies is left to the sound discretion of their respective heads/management.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that a directive from the Supreme Court also said that courts will also be working half day.
Proclamation No. 60 declares the last week of September of every year as Family Week. (PNA)
