MANILA-- MalacaAang on Friday lauded the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for exceeding its revenue collection target for the month of March by PHP1.08 billion.
The Palace commends the BOC for surpassing its revenue collection target for the month of March. Its total collection of PHP37.65 billion surpassed its collection target of PHP 36.57 billion, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a statement.
The March collection is 16 percent higher than the PHP32.38 billion collection for the same period last year.
Abella credited BOC's higher collections to the anti-corruption campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte, adding that more collections means more funds to vital administration projects.
The continuing improvement in the performance of the BOC can be attributed to the determined effort of its leadership, as well as the zero-corruption policy of the administration and its unrelenting campaign against tax cheats, he said.
Increased tax collection from the BOC will go a long way to sustain the government's program to ramp up spending on vital infrastructure and social service to bolster the growing strength of our economy and provide a better life for our people, Abella said.
