Over 9K rookie cops passed 2019 PNP recruitment

MANILA A total of 9,451 applicants have passed as rookie patrol officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the 2019 regular recruitment program to fill the annual 10,000 vacancies for police recruits.

PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, said from a pool of 38,357 applicants for Patrolman processed by the Police Regional Offices and National Support Units this year, a total of 9,451 remained after the rigorous selection process that evaluated the overall fitness of every candidate according to the minimum standards set by the PNP.

Because the Filipino people deserve only the highest quality of law enforcement and public safety services that the PNP can offer, we make sure that only the best and most qualified applicants are recruited into the police force who will someday lead the organization, Gamboa said.

The successful recruits this year are composed of 7,546 male and 1,905 female candidates who had been sworn into the police service to the initial rank of Patrolman with a basic monthly salary of PHP29,668 and other allowances.

They will undergo the mandatory six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) in the National Police Training Institute (NPTI) and another six months of Field Training Program before they will be sent back to their mother units on full duty status.

The PNP is authorized by the National Police Commission to recruit 10,000 new police personnel this year. The un-filled quota of 549 recruits in the Police Regional Offices was allocated to the National Capital Region Police Office for processing to complete 100 percent fill-up of the annual recruitment quota.

We continue to preserve the culture of professionalism in the recruitment and selection process by imposing added safeguards to ensure transparency and integrity of administrative procedures in the entire screening and evaluation process for recruits, Gamboa said. (PNA)
