Over 85% of Bataan population fully vaxxed vs. Covid-19

At least 85.84 percent of the total population of Bataan are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), or 597,095 of the 689,786 target population, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported on Friday.

The latest directive of the Department of Health (DOH) asked for 80 percent full vaccination of the target population.

The total number of vaccine doses against Covid–19 administered in Bataan reached 1,389,416, or 90.54 percent of the target population.

Some 629,786 individuals already received their first dose while those with their first booster shot reached 162,535.

Governor Albert Garcia said primary vaccinations and the booster shot for adult and pediatric populations are ongoing in the province.

Garcia added that the provincial government also continues the implementation of the vaccine-on-wheels program to reach the farthest villages in the province and administer Covid-19 jabs.

The mobile vaccination supplements the 24 vaccination sites in Bataan.

The province on Friday began the rollout of the second booster shot or the fourth dose against Covid-19 for immunocompromised individuals 18 years old and above.

Immunocompromised individuals who can avail of the second booster shot are those with immunodeficiency state, with human immunodeficiency virus, active cancer or malignancy, transplant recipients, undergoing steroid treatment, patients with poor prognosis/bedridden patients, and other conditions of immunodeficiency as certified by a physician.

“Patuloy pa rin tayong sumunod sa mga health protocols upang maiwasan ang pagkakahawaan sa ating komunidad at bilang pagpapakita ng malasakit sa kapwa. Maraming salamat at ibayong pag-iingat pa rin ang aking tagubilin para sa lahat (Let us continue to follow the health protocols to avoid the transmission of the virus in our communities and as a show of concern to our fellowmen. Thank you very much and I remind all to take extra caution),” the governor said in his statement.
