MANILA More than a thousand individuals have been apprehended for violating city ordinances in Quezon City over the last 24 hours, the Quezon City police said Thursday.
In a report to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, Chief Supt. Joselito T Esquivel Jr. said 1,087 persons were caught violating laws and city ordinances from 5 a.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.
Esquivel said those rounded up were reprimanded, fined, or charged.
Most of the violators apprehended were for jaywalking, smoking in public places and minors violating curfew hours.
Most of the jaywalking violations occurred in the populous areas in the city such as Batasan, Cubao and Fairview.
Batasan Police Station personnel apprehended 518 individuals for jaywalking, two for drinking liquor in public place, 10 for smoking in public places, and rescued nine minors for violating of curfew.
On the other hand, Cubao Police Station personnel caught 100 for jaywalking, 11 for smoking in public places, three for drinking liquor in public place, 17 for littering, and rescued two minors for roaming during curfew hours.
The Fairview Police Station brought in 84 for smoking in public places, 12 for drinking liquor in public places, 14 for loitering, 128 for jaywalking, and rescued three minors who for violation of curfew.
La Loma Police Station apprehended one person for roaming half-naked in a public place.
Masambong Police Station also apprehended 13 individuals for smoking in public places, three for jaywalking, and rescued 13 minors for violating the discipline hours.
Talipapa Police Station personnel rescued seven minors for violating the discipline hours.
Project 4 Police Station, meanwhile, arrested 11 for smoking in public places, one for roaming half-naked, and 58 for jaywalking. Anonas Police Station personnel arrested 12 for smoking in public places and 19 others for jaywalking.
Kamuning Police Station arrested 15 for smoking in public places, and two for jaywalking.
Eastwood Police Station (PS 12) personnel turned in 14 for smoking in public places, two for roaming half-naked, and three persons for jaywalking.
