MANILA-- The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) surpassed its PHP4.835-billion collection target for 2016 by PHP313 million, as it remitted a total of PHP5.148 billion to the Bureau of Treasury.
The NTC is an agency under the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
The target was set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) composed of the Department of Budget Management (DBM), the Department of Finance (DOF) and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).
The achievement came from the NTC employees' concerted efforts to strictly enforce stakeholders' compliance in paying administrative, spectrum and penalty fees.
Stakeholders regulated by the NTC include cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies and two-way radio operators.
NTC Commissioner Gamaliel A. Cordoba said, "the NTC management sincerely thanks its entire workforce for going the extra mile in ensuring that the agency surpassed PHP5 billion as 2016 ended."
"The collection effort of everyone in the agency signified NTC's sincere desire to humbly contribute to President Duterte's public service programs, priorities of which are on peace and order, agriculture and rural development and infrastructure," he added.(PNA)
