No to destabilization plots vs gov’t, Calabarzon cops told

CAMP PANTALEON GARCIA, Imus City, Cavite-- Amid plots to destabilize the present administration, policemen in Southern Tagalog provinces were urged to remain true to their duty as protectors of the people.

Chief Superintendent Mao Aplasca, newly-appointed Calabarzon Police Regional Office director, told his men to continue with the internal cleansing of their own ranks and reminded them not to besmirch the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In a command conference attended by municipal and city police chiefs at the Cavite Provincial Police Office here on Tuesday, Aplasca said he is not keen in punishing erring police personnel and would want that discipline and respect be observed.

"Let us rebuild our family -- the entire PNP organization," he said.

He added that he would rather implement his family concept of management within the police units in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Cavite provinces.

The family concept, he said, is a closely-knit family approach in the police organization wherein there is respect and obedience to authority or leaders.

The police official went on to say that by tradition and even based on a Biblical passage, a family has a father and children must show respect. This, he added, is also observed in the police hierarchy from the lower ranks to their superiors, up to the PNP chief who takes orders from the President.

"Like parents, the police heads also impose disciplinary actions on those who err in their duties and commit wrong doings," Aplasca added.

He also directed police officials to monitor all policemen's activities in the performance of duties and even beyond work.

Lamenting the involvement of some police officers in the kidnap-slay of a Korean national, he stressed the need to restore the smeared image of PNP and ordered the resumption of anti-illegal drug operations, citing the grounds gained during the past six months.

Anti-illegal drug operations should be well-planned and concentrated on high value targets, he added. The Cavite visit was part of Aplasca's series of rounds on provincial headquarters in the Southern Tagalog Region.
