In its 8 a.m. Tuesday update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that inclement weather spawned by Typhoon "Nina" has affected some 25,959 families in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Regions V and VIII.
This is equivalent to 429,485 individuals in 384 barangays living in the above-mentioned regions, said NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad.
Damage to property and infrastructure and casualties due to "Nina" are still being validated as of this posting.
As this develops, a total of 87,059 families were evacuated pre-emptively in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Regions V and VIII.
Jalad also reported that a total of 13 road sections and three bridges are still not passable due to debris in Region II, MIMAROPA, Regions V and VIII.
Some 144 areas in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Region V are still experiencing power interruption and power outages since Sunday (Dec. 25).
Eleven power lines in CALABARZON and Region V are still down and unable to provide electricity as of this time.
